WELCOME & Thank you for visiting Jeffersonnjrotc.com
Dear, Cadet
The week of July 21st, Jefferson High School’s NJROTC will be holding an introduction to our unit. It will give the freshman a chance to meet with the upperclassmen and gain a basic understanding of what will be going on as a cadet. Basic drill will be taught so that at the start of next year, the cadets will have an understanding of what is expected and what to do. This is for your benefit to come and we request your presence.
It will begin on July 21st and last through the 26th at the high school. The time will be from 9am until noon. We expect your arrival, and are glad to have you as a part of our unit.
The drill teams will be practicing every Wednesday through out the summer at the high school starting at 8:30am. If you are interested, you are welcome to come out and watch these practices.
If there are any questions or you are in need of a ride, contact Commanding Officer Elizabeth Wight at 1-734-755-7527 or Executive Officer Gary Brooks at 1-734-289-2883 or 1-734-652-7964.

Another mission of the site is to inform or educate the public about this great program.
A Little About NJROTC
NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) also known as Naval Science. The NJROTC program at Jefferson begins in the freshman year and continues to the finish of high school, and can carry on into college which at that point becomes the ROTC program.
*The NJROTC is NOT a recruitment to the military. There is no commitment to join the military after High School, rather it provides skills and knowledge that will prove to be useful and insure that students are more likely to be successful in the future no matter what career path they choose to take. The program does serve as a great pre orientation to a career in armed service and is geared more specifically towards the Navy. After high school any knowledge and experience learned in the NJROTC program will be compatible for the most part with any branch of armed service. Most importantly, NJROTC allows young people the opportunity to learn and appreciate with hands on, what our armed service personnel do and it gives them a likewise sense of responsibility to the nation in which they live.
*The NJROTC program consists of class room training, special teams, events and field trips, even fun activities, and pt (physical training) to get into and stay in shape as mush as we possibly can.
*Some NJROTC programs have fun activities such as water rafting, rappelling down walls, midnight laser tags, marksmen competitions against Navy Seal teams, etc.
*Cadets also have a chance to learn jujitsu and even self defense for female cadets.
For more information about the NJROTC go to our About NJROTC page.

The NJROTC program was established by Public Law in 1964 and may be found in Title 10, U.S. Code, Chapter 102. The program is conducted at accredited secondary schools throughout the nation, by instructors who are retired Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel. The NJROTC curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as our maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation and meteorology.
Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by community service activities, drill competition, field meets, flights, visits to naval activities, marksmanship training, and other military training. Uniforms, textbooks, training aids, travel allowance, and a substantial portion of instructors' salaries are provided by the Navy.
A call to the young
From the galliant men of service
Our liberties are plenty
Because plenty gave their souls
We ask that you be ready
And keep the flags upon their poles
Keep the glory in your hearts
And freedom in your sights
Worry as much about your duties
As you do about your rights
Remember all our soldiers
Of past and present wars
Remain silent for our Anthem
And keep an eye upon our shores
Learn all you can about our rich history
And for the future lay your plans
Mold the next generation
With firm but loving hands
Cherish our great country
For now and for ever more
Pass the message of peace and love
But prepare yourselves for war
